First Baptist Church recently held the Vacation Bible School. The public was invited to attend August 2nd. The Post Office, City Hall, the Courthouse, and Chamber of Commerce building are featured as their background. A lot of singing and dancing was enjoyed by all. In attendance were chamber members and Mayor Sullivan along with city commissioners Monica Fefie, Raymond Aucoin, and Rev Charles Brown.

Newly appointed to the Parish Council in District 1, Tamiko Francis-Stroud stops in at the CHAMBER VOICE office. Tamiko says her first few weeks in office have been overwhelming. In addition to the two scheduled monthly meeting of the Parish Council, there are numerous special meeting and committee meetings. She is serving as Chairman of the Recreation Committee. “I am looking forward to work with the parish and the citizens of West Ascension to make the enhancements to our community,” states Tamiko. Tamiko is the daughter of past mayor B.J. Francis.
