I will start out by wishing Happy Father’s Day to my dad and all the dads out there. I hope everyone enjoyed Father’s Day and my message to those guys that are not involved in their children’s life, get involved. Those memories with your children can never be brought back, so take advantage of them now.

I will start out with a very hot topic, the LSU baseball search for a succesor. Athletic Director Skip Bertman has a tough task of finding someone to take over a program that has five national championships and has dominated college baseball in the 90’s and early 2000. Who knows, Skip may dust the old ballcap off and take over until he can find a replacement he is totally confident in. Everybody’s choice is Mike Bianco at Ole Miss, one problem, he just got a raise and an extension in Oxford, sorry Tiger Fans. Stay tuned, we should get an answer in the August issue.

The NBA finals stand at 2 apiece as of press time, the Miami Heat and the Dallas Mavericks are fairly evenly matched. I’m kind of torn with Shaq playing for the Heat and Southern Jag aluminist Avery Johnson coaching the Mavericks. I picked the Heat in seven and i’m sticking to it.

The ACHS baseball team has a new head coach, most of us are very familiar with him. ACHS alum Todd Landry takes over a successful program as former head coach Marshall Crooks is heading to Walker to head up their baseball program. Good luck Coach Crooks and thanks for your time here. Todd will continue the tradition at ACHS along with his sidekick Larry Dunn. I have all of the confidence in Todd and Larry as the Dogs will continue to play hard and smart.

I have picked up a few preseason football magazines and I will come up with my own opinions in the August issue. The LSU Tigers are rated as high as #4 in one magazine and the talent for Coach Miles continues to pour in. Speaking of football, I will touch on the Bulldog and Tiger football team in the August isssue. Football is right around the corner, can’t wait.

Until next time, support our local athletes and programs by attending a game or two. I can be reached at troyleboeuf@hotmail.com with questions or comments.
