My site is great... Where’s my traffic?

Your website is up and running. It looks great. The layout is beautiful. Your peers are in awe and your competitors are nervous. The content is perfect, so why so little traffic?

Write About It - Distribute articles of value to your target market. Distribute your articles through article directories, e-zines, and blogs.

Write More About It - Submit press releases frequently with news of interest to the media and your target market. Since press releases are news, if they get picked up, it will be quickly and you can get hundreds of links back to your site this way.

Write Even More With A Blog - Blogs must have frequently updated content. Base yours on information helpful to your customers, not sales pitches.

One-Way Links -
You can buy links from other sites and from text link brokers. Banner ads and directory listings with hyperlinks are inexpensive ways to generate one-way traffic.

Testify On Other Sites - Submit your testimonials to other sites and let them publish it on their web site as long as they link back to you.

E-Newsletters - With all the pages of articles you will have from the above suggestions, why not make an e-newsletter to distribute to your mailing list and to interested visitors to your site

E-Mail Letters -
SPAM is not defined as an email from you to a person in your email list. Send your customers and friends monthly emails reminding them of what you do, any special events or sales you might have.

Pay For It -
Get traffic in no time with Pay Per Click services. Google and Overture are the primary ones. Key to make this work: know your visitor value, bid on several keywords/phrases that are not too competitive, and track the results.

Where’s Your Address? - How can visitors be expected to visit your website if you they don’t know it is there. Put your web address on EVERYTHING including business cards, letterhead, envelopes, note cards, voicemail… EVERYTHING. Does your email address reflect your website? For example is it yourname@yourwebsite.com? Do you sign every email you send with your name and web address?

Yes, internet traffic is good and sometimes can seem overwhelming or too expensive to generate. But there are many things you can do that cost little to nothing. Simply pick one item above at a time and start working with that, you will see the results.
