ABOUT THIS ISSUE'S COVER - The 2007 Juneteenth Freedom Festival brought statewide attention to Donaldsonville and was a huge two-day party. Oliver Joseph, Prince Davis, Stanley Morand and Vincent Mills lead the pack on great food. Orhan can personally testify to all of their delicious choices. Marva Wright, The Wild Magnolia Indians and talent night first-place winner, Desiree Naylor, jammed the crowds non-stop. And of course historical celebrations and living characters spotted the crowds as Donaldsonville’s own, Alvin Batiste won first prize in the 2007 Art Contest. more

Farmers Market forging forward Despite wind, snow, and extreme heat the Historic Donaldsonville Farmers Market is growing. The new market is held every Saturday morning at Crescent Park. more
