New memories were made at Point Houmas when the dedication was held at the new megasite location on December 13, 2007. The site, owned by Crawford and Thibaut Inc., is being marketed by the Ascension Economic Development Corporation.

A megasite is a site of 1,000 acres or more that is available for sale, fully served with infrastructure and utilities and developable to accelerate a potential customer’s progress. This saves a tremendous amount of time for a company looking for a large manufacturing or distribution site in advance.

The certification cost between $50,000 and $60,000 to conduct engineering, geotechnical, legal and economic studies. The AEDC provided half the expenses with additional funding coming from the Baton Rouge Area Chamber, Entergy Corporation, and the Port of Greater Baton Rouge.

This site is located in the fastest growing parish in the state and the ninth fastest in the country. It is located within sixty miles of two deep water ports and four interstates. AEDC is projecting this has the potential to create 500 to 1000 jobs.
